If you have a package valued over $500 I highly recommend investing in a $25 tracker that you ship with your pens. Either an Apple AirTag (details below) or some other competitive version. In the rare case when the carrier loses your package or delivers it to the wrong address you’ll thank me.

In addition, if you have a collection of fountain pens and purchase nice ones from time to time I’d suggest looking at getting a policy with someone like Collectible Insurance Services as they will cover pens in transit.

Please track your shipment. If you have not received an email from us that we have received your package then we likely don’t have it. We send out emails daily upon receipt of packages. At most you should hear from us the day after your package has been marked "delivered". Please email us ASAP if your tracking indicates "delivered" and you haven’t heard from us by the day after delivery.

If you are in the US and want to save yourself some time at the post office look at using Pirate Ship to generate your labels for shipment via UPS or USPS. It’s free to use and can save you some money on shipping costs.

Please take a look at these links if you want to insure your package. Certain documents and information will be needed in case a claim has to be filed for damage or loss.

If you have someone else ship pens for you be sure that they either write your name on the package or put a note in the package indicating who the pens are for. In addition, you may want to add a note on the form below indicating the name of the person shipping the pens for you.

We don’t recommend shipping pens or nibs (or nib units) in just a plain envelope. The few times customers have done this the pens have been broken and the nibs have been crushed/bent (Example: https://share.cleanshot.com/bmxcTsLZ). The postal service often runs these envelopes through machines that flatten them to print a barcode at the bottom.

Apple AirTags: If you are in the Apple ecosystem and are shipping expensive pens you might want to consider including an AirTag with your shipment to me. I’ll be sure to include it in the return shipment. Here is an interesting video about this subject. https://youtu.be/C72_8IGhR8Q

We do not currently offer nib re-tipping or adding flex.

New pen/nib purchases are processed quicker than the turnaround listed above.

Having nib work performed on your pen may or may not void a manufacturer warranty. Please take that into consideration when sending in your pen. For instance, the piston mechanism on your pen fails and the manufacturer denies repair because the nib was modified. Hopefully this is unlikely, but by sending your pen for nib work you agree to not hold Nib Grinder LLC responsible.

If you are requesting a reduction in size (grind down option below) please include a desired writing sample with your pen/nib. You can use any other pen to produce this sample, even if it’s a gel, pencil, ballpoint. I’ll do what I can to match things up to your sample. This will lessen the likelihood you’d need to send you pen back to me because it wasn’t made “fine” enough, etc.

There is a chance that without prior authorization for Express service your order may be delayed but we will do what we can to accommodate you.

Limit of 5 pens per order unless using one of the Express options. Once I ship your order back you can ship your next batch to me.

Please track and keep an eye on the packages you have sent to me. I have many packages coming in each day so I’m not able to monitor your inbound package. You should receive an email with tracking information once I ship your package back to you so you can keep an eye on it during it’s return trip. Most packages should make it to me and back to you without much issue. However, there is a chance for delays and potential loss or damage.

If purchasing a pen from me it is up to you whether you purchase insurance. Unfortunately once we give your package to the carrier and it’s moving in their system it is out of our hands. Most shipments have a small amount of coverage so if the value is less than $100 it may not make sense to purchase additional insurance.

Thanks for filling out the form. This allows you to provide details so I can perform the necessary work on your pens/nibs.

Even if you are sending multiple pens/nibs you only need to fill out the form once. Use the Service Comments section to provide any additional details you think might help with your nib work.

If it turns out I need to discuss something with you we can work on setting up a call.

Please clean and remove ink from your pens before shipping them to me. Otherwise ink can be slung into the cap during transit making a mess for me to clean. Unless explicitly requested I’ll remove all ink for the return trip. The exception to the above would be any pens that have a shut-off valve/system like the Pilot 823 or some Visconti dual chamber systems. In those cases you can enable the shut-off and ship with ink if you want me to test a specific ink. Otherwise, if you want me to test with a specific ink feel free to ship it in a small sample vial.

Simply fill the form out online and click the "SUBMIT" button at the bottom. No need to print the form (help save some trees). Payment is requested after service is performed. Once you’ve submitted the form you can ship your package to the address below. You will not receive a email/response and no further action is required.
