INSTRUCTIONS
*****
You can go ahead and send in your pens/nibs once you've filled out the form and submitted it. No further action is required. I do NOT send a confirmation after you fill out the form. If you "submit" the form it will be saved in my database.

If this form seems overwhelming feel free to just send me an email or give me a call. mark@nibgrinder.com or 678-683-9265 (you can text me at this number as well).
There are very few "* Required" fields on this form. So, don't feel like you have to answer every question. Especially if you simply want to have your nib fixed (nib repair), etc. Also, you don't have to print this form out. Simply fill it out online and click the "SUBMIT" button at the bottom.
You can also use this form when purchasing a pen from me (http://bit.ly/nibgrinderstock). I'll let you know that we've received your request and send you an invoice after I've performed the work.
If you would like to "show" me how you hold your pen feel free to send any images or links to videos (actual video files are usually too large for email) to my email address below.
If sending valuable pens, consider sending with "Signature Required". If you have a large pen collection you may want to consider a collectibles insurance policy as they often cover pens during transit (although some may require "signature delivery" to cover any loss). Such as ones that can be found at: http://collectinsure.com (no affiliation).
It is best to empty your pen of ink before shipment (if you don't do this there is a chance ink can be slung into the cap making a mess for me to clean up or worse it could stain the surface of your expensive pen as it did for one of my customers). Please avoid shipping your pens in their heavy original packaging. Feel free to use any existing boxes that are small enough to fit in something like a USPS Small Flat Rate Box. I have pen tubes available or you can use PVC tubing to protect your valuable pens from being crushed as well. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions on shipping. Please don't wrap your pens in 10 rolls of bubble-wrap with 2 rolls of packing tape holding it together. The more time I'm trying to get to people's pens the less time I have working on nibs. :)
If you are in the US take a look at PirateShip if you want to avoid the post office. https://www.pirateship.com/ (no affiliation)

Any return shipment with a declared value (insured for) more than $500 requires signature confirmation. This is a requirement of the insurance policy. We will automatically add the signature confirmation fee to your invoice for request of over $500 of coverage. If you decide to purchase additional insurance please be prepared to provide purchase documents (invoices/receipts) as they may be necessary to file a claim. If you don't have these documents you may want to think twice before opting for additional insurance through me and instead look at a policy to cover your collection (including pens during shipment) like the one mentioned above.
*****
Shipping outside of the US may incur additional costs at the discretion of the destination country’s import/customs department. These fees are calculated differently by each country and are the responsibility of the recipient. It is recommended that you contact your local customs office for additional information.
I will do my best to pack and ship your package back to you so it is well protected and on it's way back to you. If your package is an expensive pen/nib and gets lost or stuck in transit I'll do what I can to help find your package and get it to you. However, for you to be covered in the event of damage, loss, or theft (other than the base carrier coverage) you'll need to have purchased insurance or have your own insurance policy. Also, for international shipments with very expensive pens you might want to consider choosing DHL, FedEx, or UPS (although these are more expensive than USPS) to avoid long customs issues/delays.
If you are shipping a pen to me from another country please indicate that you are sending it for service/warranty work. If you don't indicate this, customs or the carrier may get the idea that I'm buying a pen from you and send me a bill for customs duties and/or brokerage charges. If I do receive such a bill I will pass along this fee to you. I will dispute the fee but I've been informed by carriers that it can take months for them to rule on this matter. Once the determination has been ruled one way or another I'll either refund the fee to you or inform you that I was required to pay the fee. This is more likely to be an issue if you use a carrier that expedites things through customs, such as, UPS or FedEx.
Currently all nib work is tested by default with Waterman Serenity Blue on Rhodia paper. Rhodia paper may produce a "finer" line compared to regular office/copier paper.
